My journey to working with parents and adults actually began as a result of my work with children. After earning my MSW, I trained and worked as a child-centered and synergetic play therapist, both in after-school programs and private practice. I learned that much is communicated through children’s play. Often, the behaviors that are causing concern in their lives are often their best attempts at managing the problematic emotions or situations they are facing. By helping parents better understand the language of play as well as brain science and child development, I can help families create small shifts in patterns which lead to big shifts in family dynamics.
Working with adults who are struggling in some way, frequently involves exploring their own early childhood experiences and how those may be continuing to impact and influence thoughts and behaviors, even in maturity. Being accompanied by a caring and experienced therapist can make a significant and positive difference for adults who have felt alone in their search for meaningful change.
I have a BA from Williams College, an MBA from Northwestern University, and an MSW from the University of Denver. I am a deeply caring mother, wife, friend, and psychotherapist. I would be honored to listen to your story.
